Colin H. van Eeckhout is best known as the vocalist of Belgian post metal collective Amenra, but his solo project CHVE is a different world entirely. The whole thing started by accident, when he bought a hurdy gurdy and began making music on his own without any particular plan. That instrument sits at the heart of the CHVE sound: its repeating drones layer with percussion and the textures of stones to form something hypnotic and deeply meditative. His voice, soft rather than confrontational, weaves through it all. Where Amenra channels collective intensity, CHVE is a more solitary and vulnerable pursuit, offering him total creative freedom to explore without limits. The music invites serious introspection, reaching for something primal in the listener.
