About
Colin James built his reputation the hard way, stepping in as a last minute opener for Stevie Ray Vaughan in Regina with just a few hours to rehearse a set of blues standards. Vaughan was impressed enough to invite him onstage for the encore and then bring him along as a permanent opening act. That connection led to James releasing his self titled debut in 1988, which produced several international hit singles, followed by the equally successful Sudden Stop. Since then he has covered a lot of musical ground, from blues and rock to acoustic and swing, with his Colin James and the Little Big Band project arriving just ahead of the 1990s swing revival and running to multiple volumes. His 2016 album Blue Highways spent ten weeks at number one on the Roots Music Report blues chart and landed in Living Blues magazine's top 50 for that year. Miles to Go followed in 2018 and hit the top ten blues charts in Canada, the US, the UK and Australia. Seven Juno wins and seven gold certified albums in Canada tell the rest of the story.
