Jonny Lang picked up serious attention as a teenager when A&M Records caught one of his live sets in Minneapolis and signed him on the spot. His 1997 debut on the label, Lie to Me, went multi platinum, and the title track remains the song most people associate with him. That early arrival set expectations sky high for a kid playing raw, confident blues guitar before he was old enough to drive. He has recorded five albums that landed in the top 50 of the Billboard 200, and his gospel influenced 2006 record Turn Around earned him a Grammy Award. Over more than a decade of touring, Lang has shared stages with the Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Jeff Beck, and Sting, among others. Eric Clapton personally invited him to the Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004. His sound moves freely between blues, blues rock, rock, and gospel, and his album Signs came out in 2017. Lang plays with a notably physical commitment, famously performing barefoot for years until a run of near accidents and electric shocks convinced him to put his shoes back on.
