Buckcherry tour bus involved in fatal traffic accident in South Carolina

In the early morning hours of Friday, August 21, the tour bus of American hard rock band Buckcherry was involved in a serious accident on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM and resulted in one fatality. The band members and tour crew were unharmed.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Toyota sedan was traveling eastbound on Interstate 26 near mile marker 31 when it struck a pedestrian on the roadway. That pedestrian turned out to be the driver of an earlier single vehicle accident in the area who had stepped out of their vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision triggered a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles, including Buckcherry's tour bus. All lanes were reopened around 10:30 AM.

The band responded via social media with the following statement: "At approximately 2:00 AM Friday morning, Buckcherry's tour bus was involved in a multi vehicle accident on I 26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life." The band added: "We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern and support."

Buckcherry is currently on tour promoting their album "Roar Like Thunder," which came out in June 2025 via Round Hill Records in North America, Sony Music in Japan, and Earache Records in the rest of the world. Like its predecessors "Vol. 10" from 2023 and "Hellbound" from 2021, the album was recorded in Nashville at Sienna Studios with producer and songwriter Marti Frederiksen, who has previously worked with artists including Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Jonny Lang, and Sheryl Crow. All ten tracks on the album were written by vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie Dacanay, and Frederiksen.

The tour is continuing as planned despite the incident. The show scheduled for the day after the accident at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was reported to be going ahead as expected. Todd is the only remaining original member in Buckcherry's current lineup, which also features Dacanay on guitar and backing vocals, Billy Rowe on guitar and backing vocals, Kelly LeMieux on bass, and Francis Ruiz on drums.
