About
Collide are a Los Angeles duo built around a simple but effective collision of forces: kaRIN's haunting, ethereal vocals layered over the dense electronic production of Statik. Together since 1992, they carved out a corner of the darkwave and industrial scene that drew on trip hop, synthpop and Middle Eastern influences, giving their sound a genuinely unusual texture. Frustrated with the music industry early on, they launched their own label, Noiseplus Music, and have run it ever since. Over the years Collide have kept things interesting. Their 2008 album Two Headed Monster featured Danny Carey of Tool and Dean Garcia of Curve as guests, and Garcia had already collaborated with them on The Secret Meeting project. They also have a soft spot for cover versions, dedicating entire releases to reinterpretations of songs by The Beatles, Depeche Mode, Radiohead and Pink Floyd. Their catalog stretches across studio albums, remix collections and live releases, with Notes from the Universe arriving in 2022 and further releases following after that.
