Colt Ford

About

Colt Ford built his reputation by blending country and hip hop before that combination was anywhere near mainstream, and his fingerprints are all over the genre whether people know it or not. He co wrote "Dirt Road Anthem", the song Jason Aldean turned into a massive hit, and also penned "Country Must Be Country Wide" for Brantley Gilbert and "Mind on You" for George Birge. Before any of that, he was a professional golfer on the Nationwide Tour, which makes him one of the more unlikely origin stories in country rap. He co founded Average Joes Entertainment and has released eight albums through the label, with Declaration of Independence becoming his first number one on Top Country Albums. His 2021 track "Hood" brought together Kevin Gates and Jermaine Dupri, the latter of whom appeared on Ford's very first album back in 2008. In April 2024 he suffered a serious heart attack after a show in Arizona, his heart stopping three times, but he made it through rehabilitation and returned to performing.
