About
Crouch is a Ghent trio built from a pile of well known Belgian heavy music names. Wim Coppers (Wiegedood, Oathbreaker, Rise And Fall, Living Gate) plays drums, Jasper Hollevoet of Ventilateur handles bass, and Levy Seynaeve (Wiegedood, Oathbreaker, ex Amenra, Living Gate) sings and plays guitar. They started in 2023 with a self released, self titled EP that leaned on sludgy heroes like Crowbar, Sumac and Neurosis, and they've since played Roadburn, Rock Herk and Desert Fest, plus support slots for Botch, High On Fire and Cave In. Their album Breaking The Catatonic State pulls away from the sludge and toward the progressive, punk rooted heavy music of the late 90s and early 2000s. Think Knut, Burnt By The Sun, Botch and Coalesce. The band deliberately breaks out of the repetitive 4/4 beat, throwing in turns at every corner, and the lyrics get more direct too. It sits somewhere between slow and heavy and full on hardcore, with hooks that show up when you least expect them.
