Daniel Caesar has a way of making R&B feel genuinely intimate, and his debut album Freudian put that quality on full display when it dropped in 2017. The Toronto singer, born Ashton Simmonds, built a cult following through two early EPs before that album earned him Grammy nominations and eventually a win for Best R&B Performance on "Best Part", the gorgeous duet with H.E.R. His second album Case Study 01 leaned into lush, layered production with guests like Brandy and John Mayer, while 2021 brought him his first US number one when he featured on Justin Bieber's "Peaches" alongside Giveon. His third album Never Enough came out in 2023 through Republic Records, and in 2024 he showed up on five tracks of Tyler, the Creator's Chromakopia. His fourth album Son of Spergy arrived in late 2025, rooted in gospel and a spirit of reconciliation, featuring Bon Iver, Sampha, and his own father.
