About
Also known as: Alexander James O'Connor, Alexander O'Connor
Rex Orange County, the project of British musician Alexander O'Connor, sits somewhere between bedroom pop intimacy and fully orchestrated pop ambition, and that tension is a big part of what makes his music so compelling. His collaboration with Tyler, the Creator on the 2017 album Flower Boy put him on the map globally, but his own records had already been building a devoted following since his self released debut landed on Bandcamp back in 2015. Platinum singles like "Sunflower" and "Best Friend" followed, along with the fan favourite Apricot Princess. His third album Pony broke into the US Billboard 200 at number 3, and Who Cares? from 2022 went one better at home, topping the UK Albums Chart. Along the way there have been some memorable moments, including a cover of "You've Got a Friend in Me" with Randy Newman and a live EP recorded at Radio City Music Hall. His fifth album, The Alexander Technique, arrived in late 2024.
