Few German bands have stirred up as much chaos and affection as Die Ärzte, the Berlin punk trio of guitarist Farin Urlaub, drummer Bela B and bassist Rodrigo González. Since their 1982 formation they have put out 14 studio albums, ranging from raw punk to ballads to something approaching Volksmusik, and they have long been considered one of the biggest punk rock acts Germany has ever produced. Their 1993 comeback single 'Schrei nach Liebe' showed a sharper political edge than anything before it, a direct response to rising right wing extremism in Germany, and it hit number one on the German charts. That same streak of provocation runs through their whole catalogue, from early records banned by German authorities for content deemed harmful to minors, to the Guinness World Record they set in 2001 with the 30 second single 'Yoko Ono'. Lately they have been refreshing classic videos, with refurbished versions of 'Schrei nach Liebe', 'Junge' and others appearing on their channel.
