Few voices shaped the sound of 1960s pop quite like Dionne Warwick's. Her partnership with composers Burt Bacharach and Hal David produced a run of stone cold classics, from "Walk on By" and "Anyone Who Had a Heart" to "I Say a Little Prayer" and the Grammy winning "Do You Know the Way to San Jose". With 56 singles landing on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1962 and 1998, she ranks as the second most charted female vocalist of the entire rock era, a record that speaks for itself. After a rough patch with Warner Bros, Clive Davis brought her back to the charts at Arista Records with hits like "I'll Never Love This Way Again", "Heartbreaker", and the charity smash "That's What Friends Are For". Six competitive Grammy Awards, a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and a 2024 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Musical Excellence category round out a career that has stayed relevant across six decades.
