About
DJ Jean, the alias of Jan Engelaar from Veenendaal, is best known for 'The Launch', a hard house track built around a space countdown that shot to number 2 on the UK charts in 1999. That iconic 'Get ready for the launch' line was voiced by Natasja Morales, and the track became one of the defining moments of late 90s hard house. Before the big hit, he was already a respected name in Dutch club culture, holding down a Friday night residency at Amsterdam's legendary iT club. His radio career has been just as busy, with stints at Radio 538, Caz!, and Slam!FM, where he ran the DJ Jean @ Work show. He later took his Madhouse programme to ISLA 106, broadcasting to Ibiza and Mallorca.
