Sherard Ingram, the Detroit born DJ and producer known as DJ Stingray 313, operates in a corner of electronic music where futuristic electro meets raw techno energy. He has been a central figure in Detroit's scene for decades, most notably as the touring DJ for Drexciya, the legendary electro duo. It was Drexciya's James Stinson who gave Ingram his stage name, and the connection ran deep enough that Ingram carried the prefix 'Drexciyan' in his name until Stinson's death in 2002. His balaclava, a SWAT mask he swapped in for comfort over the standard Underground Resistance gear, became part of the image. His solo output on labels like Tresor, WéMè Records, and his own Micron Audio stays true to Drexciya's harder electro aesthetic. Track titles like 'Fullbodyscan' and 'Psyops for Dummies' give a clear sense of where his head is at: technology, politics, surveillance. He founded Urban Tribe, contributed the mix album Kern Vol. 4 to Tresor's respected series in 2017, and released INDUSTRY 4.0 as recently as 2024. These days he is based in Berlin, drawn by its electronic music scene and what he describes as a generally safe social climate.
