Doja Cat

About

Also known as: Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini, ドージャ・キャット, 도자, 도자 캣

Doja Cat built a reputation for blending genres most artists wouldn't dare put in the same room together, mixing hip hop and pop rap with flashes of alternative rock and trap. She first turned heads with the delightfully absurd "Mooo!" in 2018, but it was the silky disco flavored "Say So" from her second album Hot Pink that cracked the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and confirmed she was operating on a different level. Her third album Planet Her pushed things further, landing several top ten hits and earning her a Grammy Award. Then Scarlet in 2023 stripped things back to a harder hip hop sound, led by "Paint the Town Red", her second US number one. More recently, her fifth album Vie signals a return to pop territory. Beyond the records, Doja Cat has a knack for making the internet feel like her personal stage, and her live performances have drawn just as much attention as her studio work. Billboard has called her one of the defining pop stars of this era, and with over 34 million records sold between 2018 and 2022 alone, that claim is hard to argue with.
