Dominique Fils Aimé set out to trace the full arc of African American music history across a trilogy of albums, starting with the blues drenched Nameless in 2018, moving through jazz on Stay Tuned! in 2019, and landing on soul with Three Little Words in 2021. That middle album earned her a Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and a Félix for Jazz Album of the Year, and it sold out a European tour. Her fourth album, Our Roots Run Deep, kept the momentum going, picking up both a Juno and a Félix for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and landing on the Polaris Music Prize long list for 2024. The Montreal singer has also lent her voice to charitable work, appearing on a charity single benefiting youth mental health alongside a string of Canadian all stars.
