About
Drowning Pool built their reputation on heavy, groove driven metal, and their 2001 debut Sinner remains their defining moment. Certified platinum within six weeks, it gave the world "Bodies," still one of the most recognisable nu metal tracks ever recorded. The Dallas band's story took a tragic turn when original vocalist Dave Williams died on the tour bus in August 2002 from an undiagnosed heart condition, leaving the core trio of guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce and bassist Stevie Benton to carry on. Since then, the band has cycled through several singers, each leaving a distinct mark. Ryan McCombs became the first to stick around for two albums, Full Circle and the self titled Drowning Pool. Jasen Moreno then outdid everyone by fronting three records, Resilience, Hellelujah and Strike a Nerve, making him the longest serving vocalist in the band's history. McCombs returned again in 2023 after Moreno's departure, and in 2024 the band dropped the music video for "Revolution (The Final Amen)," suggesting they are far from done.
