Few Icelandic artists have left fingerprints on as many different corners of music as Emilíana Torrini. She co wrote and produced Kylie Minogue's massive hit "Slow" alongside Dan Carey, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2005, and around the same time she was contributing vocals to Thievery Corporation's "The Richest Man in Babylon", composing three tracks on that record outright. Before all that, she was lending her voice to GusGus on their debut "Polydistortion". Her own studio work spans indie pop, trip hop and dream pop, with albums like the breathy "Fisherman's Woman" and the danceable "Me and Armini" showing serious range. She also sang "Gollum's Song" for "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers", one of the more unexpected résumé entries in recent memory. After a long gap caused by a falling out with label Rough Trade, she returned in 2023 with "Racing the Storm" alongside the Colorist Orchestra, followed by "Miss Flower" in 2024.
