About
Exit North came together when Steve Jansen, the drummer from legendary art rock band Japan, teamed up with Swedish singer Thomas Feiner, pianist Ulf Jansson and multi instrumentalist producer Charlie Storm. The connection between Jansen and Feiner stretched back to co writing sessions for Jansen's solo work, and after years of trading ideas they decided to make it official. Their debut album, Book of Romance and Dust, arrived in 2018 after a four year recording process in Storm's Gothenburg studio. Jansen described it as a classic singer songwriter collection with a strong focus on extended musical passages designed to take the listener somewhere. Feiner brings serious pedigree to the group, having fronted the Swedish band Anywhen, whose album The Opiates was released on David Sylvian's Samadhi Sound label. The four members share writing credits equally, letting the material shape itself rather than forcing a direction. Their second album, Anyway, Still, came out in April 2023, and a single called Harm / Terms followed in 2025.
