Few punk bands from rural northeastern Germany have stirred up as much noise, literally and politically, as Feine Sahne Fischfilet. Formed in 2004 in Mecklenburg Vorpommern, the band built a reputation for raw, politically charged punk rock that put them on the radar of state authorities well before they were playing major festivals. Their debut track Staatsgewalt got them hauled before Germany's federal censorship agency, and they were flagged twice in the Mecklenburg Vorpommern constitutional protection report for an "explicit anti state attitude." That kind of attention only seemed to fuel them. Musically, the band's arc has been one of steady growth. Their 2018 album Sturm und Dreck cracked the top three in Germany and charted across Austria and Switzerland, a serious leap from their early DIY releases on Diffidati Records. They've played Rock am Ring, Hurricane Festival, and Southside, and stood on the stage at the famous Chemnitz solidarity concert alongside Die Toten Hosen and Kraftklub. A documentary about them, Wildes Herz, was directed by Charly Hübner. In 2018 they landed a nomination at the MTV Europe Music Awards for Best German Act.
