About
Also known as: Feu! Chaterton
Named after the English poet Thomas Chatterton, this Parisian five piece channels a very French sensibility while drawing on a remarkably wide range of influences. Singer Arthur Teboul cites chanson legends Léo Ferré, Georges Brassens, and Serge Gainsbourg as touchstones, yet the band's sound also pulls from rock heavyweights like Neil Young and Radiohead, a tension that gives their music its distinctive edge. They broke through with their 2015 debut album Ici le Jour (a tout enseveli), which landed to strong critical reception, and have kept building from there. L'Oiseleur followed in 2018, then Palais d'argile in 2021, each record pushing their art pop and art rock palette a little further. The band rounds out to five members, with two guitarists and keyboardists alongside bass and drums, giving them plenty of texture to play with live and in the studio.
