About

Also known as: Five For Fighting, Five for Figthing

Five for Fighting is the stage name of Los Angeles singer songwriter and pianist John Ondrasik, a name he picked up at the request of a record label that found his real surname too hard to pronounce. The name comes from an ice hockey penalty term, a nod to his lifelong devotion to the LA Kings. His sound is piano driven soft rock, and his breakthrough came with "Superman (It's Not Easy)", which hit number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became something of an anthem in the aftermath of September 11. The song earned a Grammy nomination in 2002. Over six studio albums, Ondrasik built up a catalog that includes the widely loved "100 Years" and "The Riddle", along with a steady run of adult contemporary hits through the late 2000s. His songs have turned up in more than 350 films, TV shows, and ads, and his catalog has now crossed one billion streams. More recently he released "Can One Man Save The World", a collaboration with the Ukrainian Orchestra.
