FKA twigs has always been hard to pin down, which is part of what makes her so compelling. The Cheltenham born artist built a sound that pulls from trip hop, R&B, electronic music, and the avant garde, and her 2014 debut LP1 announced her as one of the more distinctive voices in experimental pop, earning a Mercury Prize nomination and landing at number one on several year end lists. A follow up EP, M3LL155X, pushed even further into strange, beautiful territory. After a four year break she returned with Magdalene in 2019, then shifted gears with the looser, dancier mixtape Caprisongs in 2022. Her ambitions clearly hadn't shrunk: in 2025 she released not one but two studio albums, Eusexua and Eusexua Afterglow, and Eusexua went on to win Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammy Awards. Before any of this, she was a backup dancer in videos for artists including Ed Sheeran and Kylie Minogue, which feels almost impossible to imagine now.
