Frightened Rabbit (GB)

About

Frightened Rabbit built their reputation on raw, emotionally unguarded songwriting, rooted in the indie rock and folk rock scenes of Scotland. Formed in Selkirk in 2003 as a solo project for Scott Hutchison, they grew into a five piece band and signed to Fat Cat and later Atlantic Records. Their second album, The Midnight Organ Fight, earned an 8.1 on Pitchfork and is widely considered their breakthrough. Pedestrian Verse pushed them into the UK top ten in 2013, and Painting of a Panic Attack, recorded in New York with The National's Aaron Dessner producing, showed a broader, more layered sound. Scott Hutchison died by suicide in May 2018, and the remaining members confirmed that Frightened Rabbit no longer exists as a band. Their catalog, though, holds up as some of the most honest and affecting guitar music to come out of Scotland in the 2000s, with songs that never flinch from the harder edges of being human.
