George Ezra built his reputation on a voice that sounds far older and deeper than you'd expect from someone his age, and his debut single "Budapest" put that voice in front of the world. Released in 2014, it hit number one in several countries and helped push his debut album, Wanted on Voyage, to the top of the UK charts, where it became the third best selling album in the UK that year. He had already racked up support slots for the likes of Sam Smith, Bastille and Robert Plant before most people knew his name, and a 2014 video for "Listen to the Man" featuring Ian McKellen showed he had a sense of fun to go along with the folk tinged songwriting. His second album, Staying at Tamara's, arrived in March 2018 and went straight to number one in the UK. "Shotgun" became his first chart topper in the UK, Ireland and Australia, a genuine crossover pop moment that sat comfortably alongside his more rootsy earlier work. A third album, Gold Rush Kid, followed in June 2022 and made it three consecutive UK number one albums, a run that very few artists manage.
