Glass Animals built their reputation on a sound that blends psychedelic pop, indie rock, and electronic textures into something distinctly their own. The Oxford four piece broke through with their 2014 debut Zaba, home to the platinum certified "Gooey", and kept the momentum going with How to Be a Human Being, a concept album inspired by strangers Dave Bayley met on the road. That record won UK Album of the Year and Self Producing Artist of the Year at the MPG Awards and landed on the Mercury Prize shortlist. Then came "Heat Waves". Released on the Dreamland album in 2020, it spent 59 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 before finally hitting number one in March 2022, fuelled largely by TikTok during the pandemic. It topped charts in over ten countries, passed two billion Spotify streams, and earned the band Grammy and Brit Award nominations. Dreamland itself peaked at number two in the UK and number seven on the Billboard 200, cementing Glass Animals as one of the bigger British acts of their generation.
