Few duos have pulled off what Gnarls Barkley managed with their 2006 debut: CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse made "Crazy" the first single ever to top the UK Singles Chart on download sales alone, holding that top spot for nine consecutive weeks, a feat not seen since Wet Wet Wet in 1994. Rolling Stone later voted it the best song of the decade. The album it came from, St. Elsewhere, landed Grammy nominations for both Record of the Year and Album of the Year. The pair bring wildly different pedigrees to the project. CeeLo came up through Atlanta's Goodie Mob and the Dirty South scene, while Danger Mouse earned his stripes producing for Gorillaz and The Black Keys, and grabbed headlines with his Jay Z meets Beatles mashup The Grey Album. Their second album, The Odd Couple, dropped ahead of schedule in 2008 after leaking online. The duo eventually returned with a third album, Atlanta, released in March 2026.
