About
Green Lung built their reputation the hard way, starting out in London pub venues before their sound, rooted in the classic heavy riffery of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Queen, caught the attention of the metal world. Their debut LP Woodland Rites landed in 2019 to instant critical praise, and they kept the momentum going with Black Harvest in 2021, which pulled in positive coverage from Kerrang! and beyond. The band deliberately chose smaller, passionate labels early on, signing with Finnish doom specialists Svart Records before eventually moving to Nuclear Blast in 2022. Their third album This Heathen Land hit number one in both the British Rock and Metal chart and the Independent Album Breakers chart, and earned a rare full five Ks from Kerrang! Lyrically and visually, Green Lung lean deep into British folklore and folk horror, think the Green Man and the Pendle witches, with artwork by illustrator Richard Wells whose linocut inspired style ties everything together beautifully.
