About
Also known as: Gulben Ergen
Few Turkish pop acts have managed to cross between acting and music as seamlessly as Gülben Ergen. She first made her name on screen before pivoting to a recording career that took off fast, and her 2004 album Uçacaksın became a genuine blockbuster, shifting 600,000 copies and earning a diamond certification from Mü Yap. Her 2002 single 'Abayı Yaktım' won Best Composition of the Year at the Turkey Music Awards, and the 2009 collaboration with Oğuzhan Koç, 'Giden Günlerim Oldu', hit number one on the Türkçe Top 20 and became the best selling digital track in Turkey that year. Ergen works across fantezi, pop and arabesk, and her catalogue has a real range to it. Her seventh album Uzun Yol Şarkıları stood out because every track was recorded live, with no computer processing involved. By 2015 her albums had collectively sold two million copies, a figure that speaks to a loyal and long standing fanbase. She has also stayed visible on television, through both acting roles and her own talk format.
