About
Hanna Shybayeva is a Dutch pianist of Belarusian origin who has built a career spanning solo recitals, orchestral work, and chamber music across Europe and North America. She has performed with orchestras including the Minneapolis Symphony and the Belgrade Symphony, and shared stages at major festivals like the Gergiev Festival Rotterdam, the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, and the West Cork Chamber Music Festival. Her playing covers a wide range, from Schubert and Rachmaninoff to Gershwin and the contemporary composer Kapustin. She won the YPF National Piano Competition in Amsterdam in 2001, taking both first prize and the Grand Prix, which came with a solo album on Philips Classics. Her 2015 recording Sounds of War, a violin and piano duo project exploring works by Janáček, Poulenc, and Prokofiev, earned her an Edison Klassik Award. She is also a core member of the New European Ensemble and co founded the White Crow Music Festival in Leiden, which she directed for five years.
