About
Thomas Beijer is a Dutch pianist, composer, and writer whose career has taken him from concert halls in Scandinavia and Japan to collaborations with flamenco guitarists and cabaret performers. He studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory, finishing both his bachelor's and master's degrees with the highest possible distinction, and has since soloed with orchestras performing concertos by composers ranging from Bach and Beethoven to Gershwin and John Adams. His discography spans Brahms, Rachmaninoff, and Spanish repertoire, with a 2022 album of Mozart four hand sonatas recorded with Nicolas van Poucke for the TRPTK label. Beyond performing, Beijer composes works published by Donemus and has written a novel as well as an essay collection. He won the Nederlandse Muziekprijs in February 2022, the highest honour in Dutch music, and has been the pianist of the Amsterdam Chamber Soloists since 2009. There is a real restlessness to his output, whether he is writing piano quartets, scoring film commissions, or stepping outside classical music entirely.
