About
LAKSHMI is a songwriter, singer and theatre maker whose music sits at the intersection of atmospheric electronic pop, performance and visual art. Her sound rests on dark synthesizers and deep drums, with a voice that floats above it all, seductive, intense and hard to pin down. She weaves themes of activism, personal growth and love into layered, idiosyncratic songs, and her fascination with multiple art forms shows up in her magically realist music videos and immersive live shows. Since her debut in 2017 she has released several records, toured Europe, appeared on the Dutch television show Wie is de Mol, and performed at the main building of the United Nations in New York, where she also spoke about intersectionality. She serves as an ambassador for Plan International, connecting her art to advocacy around girls' rights and climate justice. A third album is in the works.
