Hans Williams

About

Hans Williams is a singer songwriter based in New Orleans, and the city's spirit runs all the way through his music. Growing up with his parents' record collection, a mix of Al Green, Tracy Chapman, Steely Dan, James Brown, Tower of Power and Funkadelic, gave him a sound that sits comfortably across soul, folk and groove without feeling like a pastiche of any of them. His songs are personal in their lyrics while also reaching for something cathartic, weaving emotion into melody in a way that feels communal rather than confessional. Live, he works with a full band, and the dynamic shifts: the introspective core stays intact but gets wrapped in rhythms that actually move people. He is signed to Giant Music and has released singles including 'True Feeling', 'Nosebleed' with Lyla George, and 'Janie', produced by Phin Choukas. He has toured extensively across North America and Europe, sharing bills with artists such as Hazlett, The Revivalists and Chance Peña.
