About
Harmen Veerman has long been a familiar voice in the music scene around Volendam. He spent years performing with Left Side and The Tribute to The Catsband, among other projects, before stepping out on his own. His solo show, My Songbook, is about as personal as it gets: a programme that moves through songs he has sung over the years, his own new compositions, and a handful of gems associated with his brother Cees, singer and composer for The Cats. He starts each performance stripped back to just guitar and voice, then gradually builds from there. The set pulls in Left Side hits alongside music that clearly shaped him, and he shares the reasons why those songs matter to him. It is an intimate format that suits him well.
