About
Few bands from the Connecticut hardcore scene hit as hard or as consistently as Hatebreed. Formed in Bridgeport in 1994 around frontman Jamey Jasta, they blew up the underground with their 1997 debut Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire, which sold over 158,000 copies and remains a landmark record in both hardcore and metalcore. Their move to Universal Records for 2002's Perseverance pushed them onto the Billboard 200, and the single "I Will Be Heard" was so intense it got banned from MTV, only to find a home on Headbangers Ball when Jasta himself became the host in 2003. Hatebreed's sound is built around bruising riffs, relentless aggression and motivational lyrics that hit like a pep talk from someone who genuinely means it. "Live for This" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2005, and their reputation for punishing live shows has kept them a fixture on the heavy music circuit through eight studio albums. Their most recent full length, Weight of the False Self, landed in 2020, and in 2025 they surfaced with a new track called "Make The Demons Obey".
