About
Het Natalon Kwartet is a piano quartet made up of four pianists: Petra van Oort, Robert Lambermont, Laura Sandee, and Anna van Nieukerken. They specialise in the music of Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt, performing fragments from each of his five major works: Canto Ostinato, Horizon, Lemniscaat, Meandres, and Incantatie IV. What sets them apart is the way they handle Ten Holt's long, slowly shifting musical arcs, blending organic ensemble playing with fine attention to detail and subtle variation. Their concerts are known for an immersive setup, with four grand pianos placed at the centre of the room and the audience seated all around them. NRC described their playing as so tightly unified that four pianos sound like a single, impossible instrument. Beyond the music itself, the four pianists share personal stories about their relationship with Ten Holt's work and take questions from the audience, making their performances as much a conversation as a concert.
