Few bands have generated buzz quite like iDKHOW, a project that built its fanbase almost entirely in secret. Fronted by Dallon Weekes, a former member of Panic! at the Disco, the Salt Lake City act spent years writing and quietly performing new wave inflected, synth pop leaning rock before anyone officially admitted it even existed. Their name comes from a Back to the Future quote, and the deliberately mangled punctuation (no apostrophe, no comma) was Weekes pushing back against his old band's obsession with getting it right. Rock Sound called them the hottest unsigned band in the world before they had even released a proper record. Their 2018 debut EP 1981 Extended Play topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and the 2020 album Razzmatazz cemented them as a genuine force in the indie pop and alternative rock space. TV spots on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Ellen DeGeneres Show followed, alongside sold out UK shows at venues like London's Kentish Town Forum. The sound sits somewhere between classic new wave and hooky modern pop rock, with a theatrical edge that makes their songs hard to shake.
