About
Founded in New York in 2019, the Isidore String Quartet has built a striking reputation in a short time. The group took home the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022 and the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2023, two serious markers of recognition in the classical world. Their playing spans the full sweep of the string quartet repertoire, from Haydn and Mendelssohn to contemporary composers like Billie Childs and works by Webern. The four musicians approach the quartet format as a space for genuine collaboration and artistic engagement, treating the interplay between parts as the point rather than a means to an end.
