About
James Walsh is best known as the frontman and driving force behind Starsailor, the band he named after a 1970 Tim Buckley album. Together with Starsailor, and across his busy solo career, he has shifted over three million albums worldwide. His voice and songwriting lean toward intimate, emotionally direct territory, influenced by artists like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, and Jeff Buckley. His solo output has been prolific. After a debut EP recorded with a Norwegian chamber orchestra in Tromsø, he put out his first solo album Lullaby in 2012 and has kept releasing ever since, including two full albums in 2021 alone. He has also collaborated with Belgian band Andes, contributed to projects by Nikolaj Torp Larsson and Andreas Olson, and worked with Suzanne Vega during the recording sessions that kicked off his solo path.
