Starsailor built their reputation on James Walsh's extraordinary voice, which one NME journalist famously described as thrumming like an emotional telegraph wire. The English post Britpop four piece formed in 2000 and named themselves after a Tim Buckley album, which tells you something about their musical ambitions. Their debut Love Is Here hit number 2 in the UK charts, and singles like "Alcoholic" and "Good Souls" quickly established them as one of the more serious guitar bands of the early 2000s. Their biggest moment came with "Silence Is Easy", a Top Ten hit that involved a famously turbulent collaboration with Phil Spector in what turned out to be his last production work before his conviction. After four albums and a string of Top 40 hits, the band went on hiatus in 2009 before reuniting in 2014. They kept the momentum going with the fifth album All This Life in 2017, and returned in 2024 with their sixth record Where The Wild Things Grow.
