About
Also known as: EMBRACE, Embraces
Embrace built one of the more remarkable debut stories in British rock: their first album, The Good Will Out, hit number one in the UK and went gold on its first day of release in 1998, eventually shifting over 500,000 copies domestically. The West Yorkshire band, anchored by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara alongside a tight four piece lineup, made their name with expansive, emotional rock that sat comfortably alongside the late 90s Britpop wave without being swallowed by it. Their momentum continued into the 2000s with Out of Nothing going straight to number one in 2004, partly thanks to 'Gravity', a song written for them by Coldplay's Chris Martin after the two bands grew close on tour. That friendship produced one of their biggest singles, charting at number seven. They've kept releasing records across the decades, with their eighth studio album arriving in 2022, showing a band with real staying power.
