Jennie broke records the moment she stepped out on her own. Her 2018 debut single "Solo" topped South Korea's Circle Digital Chart, and its music video became the first by a Korean female soloist to pass one billion views on YouTube. She got there as one quarter of Blackpink, the girl group that debuted in 2016 and went on to become one of the best selling girl groups ever, with Jennie as the rapper and vocalist who got her start through YG Entertainment. The solo run only grew from there. "You & Me" hit number one on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart in 2023, the same year she started her own label, Odd Atelier, and made her acting debut in HBO's The Idol. Then came her debut album Ruby in 2025, which sold a million copies worldwide, cracked the US top ten and gave her hits like "Mantra" and "Like Jennie". She also landed a long running Billboard Hot 100 top ten spot with her remix of Tame Impala's "Dracula".
