About
Also known as: Gideon Ogheneochuko Akpovi
Jerub's big moment came in 2023, when the Nottingham singer found himself playing the concert for the Coronation of Charles III and Camilla. From there he worked through a run of major stages, including The Great Escape, Latitude, Live at Leeds and Dot to Dot, and toured Europe alongside JP Cooper. His sound sits mostly in pop and soul, with bits of gospel, indie, pop punk and alternative rock mixed in. He describes it as intense, raw emotion, built on big vocals, anthem choruses and honest lyrics. The records have been steadily stacking up: the EPs Feel It, Finding My Feet and Carry the Load, then a mixtape, The Wonder Years, in late 2025. "There Till the End" got a boost when BBC Radio 1 made it Track of the Week, giving him his first chart entry, and "Kumbaya" later spent ten weeks leading the UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart. Arlo Parks has praised his voice as one that draws you in.
