Jody Bernal scored one of the most memorable Dutch summer hits of 2000 with "Que sí, que no", a Spanish language track based on an original by Argentinian group El Símbolo. The single went to number one in both the Netherlands and Belgium, sitting at the top for 15 weeks. He landed the track almost by accident, after performing it on the RTL 4 talent show Your Big Break and losing, only to see audience enthusiasm push it onto shelves anyway. Over the years Bernal has kept popping up in unexpected places, from the musical Fame to the film New Kids Turbo, where he plays himself getting shot on stage. On the music front, he teamed up with DJs The Boy Next Door and Fresh Coast in 2017 for a reworked version of "La Colegiala", released on Spinnin' Records, which reached number five in the Netherlands and charted across a string of European countries.
