About
Also known as: Joseph Fidler Walsh, Walsh
Few guitarists have left their mark across as many chapters of rock history as Joe Walsh. Starting out with the James Gang, whose groove heavy 'Funk 49' put him on the map, he then built a strong solo career with hits like 'Rocky Mountain Way' and 'Life's Been Good' before joining Eagles in 1975 as the replacement for founding member Bernie Leadon. His first album with the band was Hotel California, and the guitar solo he shared with Don Felder on that title track was voted the greatest guitar solo ever in a Guitarist magazine reader poll. Rolling Stone placed him at number 54 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Walsh has twelve solo studio albums under his belt, and his guitar work has drawn praise from the likes of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Pete Townshend. As part of Eagles he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. He has also put in time as a prolific session musician and toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band, showing a restlessness that has kept his career moving across six decades.
