About
Joey Cape is the voice and driving force behind California punk rock band Lagwagon, a role he has held since the band formed in the late 1980s. Beyond Lagwagon, he fronted the experimental punk outfit Bad Astronaut and plays guitar in cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. He also ran his own label, My Records, which launched with the debut album from Nerf Herder back in 1996. On his own, Cape has built a solid solo catalog of acoustic work, starting with Bridge in 2008 and followed by Doesn't Play Well with Others, released one track per month throughout 2010 before landing as a full album in 2011. He founded One Week Records, a label built around a simple concept: an artist comes to his home studio, records ten songs in seven days, and leaves before anyone can overthink it. His most recent solo album, A Good Year to Forget, came out in 2021.
