About
Joost Botman is a guitarist and singer who has built a reputation performing music theatre shows built around iconic artists. He spent five years touring the Netherlands with a programme dedicated to Simon and Garfunkel, and his latest project turns the spotlight on Johnny Cash. Called The True Johnny Cash, the show digs into the contradictions that defined Cash's life: faith alongside addiction, patriotism alongside ego, a devoted family man drawn to dark and troubled themes. Botman's warm vocal tone suits the Cash catalogue well, and guitarist Jos Kolenberg joins him on stage to complete the sound. Together they bring a roots rock sensibility to material that has always sat comfortably in country rock territory.
