About
Based out of Utrecht, Judith Jiskoot Trio builds a sound that sits somewhere between jazz, indie and folk, which gives their music an oddly familiar quality even on first listen. The key ingredient is Judith Jiskoot's guitar work: intricate melodies, carefully considered, woven into compositions that borrow pop structures and dress them in a jazz sensibility. Sebastian de Gilde on double bass and Peter van Kaam on drums complete the picture, and together the three move fluidly from detailed, precisely crafted pieces to breezier, more playful songs. The overall feel is late night and inward, like the quiet loop of thoughts that keeps you awake long after everyone else has gone to sleep.
