About
Julia Sabaté is a Dutch Spanish singer who makes music almost entirely in Spanish, which sets her apart in the Dutch indie scene. She spent several years in the americana duo Micah & Julia alongside Micha Bartelds, where the pair built a real following, opened for acts like Douwe Bob and BLØF, played Lowlands, and even collaborated with Nashville songwriter Femke Weidema, a Latin Grammy winner. When the duo parted ways in 2022, Sabaté leaned into her Spanish roots and relaunched as a solo artist under her mother's surname. Her solo work comes with a tight live band, Ruben Sieben on drums and Koen Hermans handling guitar, bass and keys, and the three have taken that setup to festivals across the Netherlands and Spain, including Pukkelpop and the Mad Cool Festival. Her debut EP Callada arrived in 2024, and a full length record titled Egoista, featuring fourteen new songs, is in the works.
