About
A Norwegian power trio, Kanaan have carved out a reputation for instrumental psychedelic rock that pulls from krautrock, fuzz drenched grooves, jazz and full on psychedelia. Their sound carries echoes of Hawkwind at their heaviest, CAN, Ash Ra Tempel and Jimi Hendrix, yet it never feels like straightforward homage. Heavy riffs and thick grooves sit alongside quieter, more delicate passages, and the band shifts between them with enough dexterity to keep things genuinely unpredictable. Over roughly a decade together they have been remarkably prolific, building a catalogue that stretches to ten studio albums, including a self titled record. Live, they have a well earned reputation for translating all of that density and detail into something that hits even harder in a room.
