About

Kanonenfieber is a faceless German band that dresses in World War I uniforms and black full face masks, a nod to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Behind the masks is "Noise" from Bamberg, who plays every instrument in the studio and only sings live, backed by a masked touring crew. The whole thing started in 2020 as a plan to write an album about the First World War using real letters and documents from the period, and the lyrics have stayed on that subject ever since. Musically it sits somewhere between blackened death metal and melodic black metal, with reviewers comparing the atmosphere to Bolt Thrower and 1914, and the craftsmanship to Heaven Shall Burn. The debut Menschenmühle landed in 2021, followed by Die Urkatastrophe on Century Media in 2024, plus a run of EPs including U Bootsmann along the way. Soldatenschicksale arrives in 2026, with singles like Heizer Tenner and Meine Lieben already out. Noise also runs two other masked projects, Non Est Deus and Leiþa.
